Description:
This project was started in 2014 to train mid-level health workers (Clinical Officers, Nurses and Midwifes) to support and improve the access and delivery of healthcare to the people of South Sudan. The project goal was to establish a Health Science Institute that is accredited to the Ministry of Health, Republic of South Sudan.
In a short period of three years the Institute has already graduated 49 students and has built a reputation for delivering high quality competency based curriculum and for adopting innovative teaching methods. It is the only Institute that has consistently maintained a 40% female student ensuring a gender balance and boasts of 97% retention & course completion rates. The Institute is part of the National Board of Health Science Institutes and has requests from a number of NGO’s to support them with the curriculum development.
